STAFF
TRAINING
JOAK ensures that staff
receive all necessary training by:
- Developing A Training
Requirement Staff Policy. This forms one of the bases for
our staff credentialing process.
- Staff are credentialed “at
the point-of-hire” to ensure that staff receive all
necessary trainings.
- Orientation Process: This
is another way that JOAK ensures that staff receive all
necessary training. Through orientation, staff are trained to
tolerate infringes on their time and social life, including
weekends and holidays when necessary. Staffs are trained to
provide 24-hour support or supervision to consumers if
needed. JOAK teaches staff to be warm, caring, tolerant,
persevering, intuitive, flexible, non-critical and
sympathetic. Inter-relationship skills, ability to work
independently, ability to show/share emotions and ability to
view consumers positively are all instilled during staff
orientation. Staff learn to accept others with aberrant
behavior or persons with values different from their own.
- Job Development and
On-going Training: To ensure continuous training and
retention of competencies and responsibilities, on-going
training and support are important resources for JOAK
programs. JOAK encourages staff to attend continuing
education, workshops, conferences, seminars and regular
supervisory staff meetings.
Overall, our staff must
understand the service delivery needs for various county agencies. Our
ultimate goal is to deliver services better, faster, more
proficient, to satisfy consumers and families in the process.
This reinforces our goal of providing comprehensive services
designed to enhance the quality of life and the independence of
those we serve.
EVALUATION OF JOAK STAFF
The process that our agency
uses to ensure that competent staff are providing services
includes:
- Initial Credentialing.
- Competency Assessment
within 1-3 months of initial employment.
- Periodic Assessment Annual
Review (or performance appraisal of staff).
